Get to know Milt's Handyman Services in Richmond, VA. Learn about our story, values, local team, and commitment to dependable service and quality work.
I was born and raised in Virginia as one of five brothers. My wife, Melissa, and I have been married for 33 years. We have four children, three of whom are married, and two grandchildren. Growing up, my dad taught us the value of hard work, integrity and treating people with respect. Construction was part of our family life, and several of us worked in the industry while going to school and supporting our families.
I earned master’s degrees in math education and divinity, and my career has taken me from teaching high school math in the Richmond area to serving in ministry. In 2004, my family and I moved to Albania, where we spent seven years working with a Christian leadership and church-planting ministry.
In 1954, Milt opened Milt’s Stop & Eat in Moab, Utah, where he built a loyal following that included everyone from local miners to Hollywood legends. John Wayne, Robert Duvall, and Jack Palance were among the famous faces who stopped by over the years for a quick bite and a friendly conversation.
But Milt’s legacy was about much more than who came through the doors. After his passing, longtime members of the Moab community remembered Milt not only for the restaurant he built, but for the kind of person he was. Moab Mayor Dave Sakrison described him simply: “He was very humble, yet he was very influential.”
That same character showed in the way Milt approached his work. One former owner of Milt’s remembered how precise he was, saying, “He was very precise about what he did.” Everything he did, he recalled, was carefully done and carefully measured.
His attention to detail was matched by the way Milt treated people. Decades after he first opened the restaurant, longtime customers still expected the same level of service they remembered from him. As one of the restaurant’s later owners put it, “He made it just right in 1954.” That legacy continues today. Milt’s Stop & Eat is the oldest continuously operating restaurant in Moab, and much of its classic character remains. It is still a local favorite and a popular stop for people visiting Moab from around the world.
When Bryan started Milt’s Handyman Services, he wanted to bring the qualities he admired in his grandfather into a completely different kind of business. The idea was simple: combine the personal relationship and trust you expect from a local handyman with a Milt inspired model built around precise attention to detail, organization, and reliability, all with the convenience of a modern service company.
For homeowners and businesses, that means showing up when we say we will, communicating honestly, paying attention to the details, doing quality work, and treating people and their property with respect. Today, Milt’s Handyman Services is bringing that philosophy to communities across the country. While the business may be different from the little Moab diner Milt opened in 1954, the principles behind it are much the same.
Work hard. Do things carefully. Treat people right. Build relationships that last.
